Personal Description:
I'm a 23-year-old chemistry student in my final year at Trinity College in the heart of Dublin. I live in Foxrock in south Dublin with my parents and sister. For the leaving cert, I took maths, physics, chemistry and biology, and I have also studied a broad range of disciplines as part of my degree since we begin with 2 years of general science modules before specialising. These include college-level maths, geology, biology, physics and of course chemistry. I love music and during my free time, I play guitar and bass, and as many new instruments as I can get my hands on. I also love football and play on the weekends. I enjoy helping people understand problems and concepts, and I understand that each individual learns in their own unique way.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught junior cert maths and science and leaving cert maths, physics, chemistry and biology in after school one-to-one grinds at my old school, st.Andrews's College in Blackrock. I have also helped out with some of my sister's friends with the topics mentioned above. I have given brief grinds on campus to the years below me in general science with the various modules we take throughout the degree.
Approach to Grinds:
I would generally start by giving a summary of the key concepts that we would cover for the subject. I feel it's important to build a strong foundation rather than trying to force all of the information on someone. I can do exam-focused or general grinds, and I can also prepare questions for the end of each grind to reinforce what we've learned, along with a summary of everything we covered each day. I can do 1 or 2-hour sessions and multiple topics in each session if required. I firmly believe in a comfortable approach to each individual, and I enjoy seeing someone improving over time and master what they need to know. I've been told I'm a calm and easy-going person, and I would aim to make the grinds as fun and interesting as possible to ensure an efficient learning outcome.
