Personal Description:
I bring a friendly, approachable, and open-minded attitude to all aspects of my teaching. I value strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, and work to create a classroom environment where learners feel safe, heard, and encouraged to participate. My openness helps me adapt to individual student needs and fosters a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
Tutoring Experience:
A versatile secondary school educator specialising in Classics, English, and History, with experience teaching across all second‑level cycles—including the Junior Cycle (including Junior Certificate), Transition Year (TY), and the Senior Cycle culminating in the Leaving Certificate.
Approach to Grinds:
My approach to grinds is based on the PPP (Presentation – Practice – Production) method, which provides a clear, student-centred structure for effective learning:
Presentation: I begin each session by introducing or revisiting a concept clearly and concisely, providing context and relevance, particularly within the requirements of the Junior or Leaving Certificate syllabuses. This stage ensures students fully understand the material before applying it.
Practice: We then move to guided practice, using structured exercises that build confidence and reinforce key skills. Whether analysing a literary passage, translating a Latin sentence, or evaluating a historical argument, I tailor the activities to the student’s level and exam goals.
Production: Finally, the student applies their learning independently in exam-style tasks — such as answering comprehension questions, writing essays, or translating unseen texts. This helps develop not just accuracy but also exam technique, timing, and self-reliance.
