Personal Description:

I am 42 years old from Cork City and I have spent my Erasmus year in France and have also lived in Montréal, Québec as part of USIT's Work in Canada programme. I have also lived in Naples, Italy to learn the Neapolitan dialect. I have been interested in Languages since 6th class when I heard past pupils talk about the options available in secondary school and started with French before taking Spanish in 4th year and Italian in University. I learned Portugues, Catalan and Gallician while in UCC which I found easy to learn as they were based on Spanish. I enjoy the interaction that languages brings and always made an effort to socialise with native speakers and make their stay in Cork that bit easier. I also represented Ireland in Paris in 2007 as part of the Irish team on Questions Pour un Champion which airs on TV5 and I hosted a multilingual radio show on UCC's Campus Radio in 2006.

Tutoring Experience:

Taught English in Clermont-Ferrand, France, October 2002 - May 2003.
Taught Spanish to Junior and Leaving Certificate Students at North Presentation Girls School through NUI Cork.
Taught Junior and Leaving Certificate French at St Aidan's Community College, Cork.

Approach to Grinds:

I approach the lesson depending on the learner's age and ease of use of the language to decide if we are working towards exam success or language learning and improvement. I also encourage media immersion by internet or **Contact Detail Removed**vision and use music, humour and films to aid appreciation.
