Personal Description:
Background:
“The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives”.
Hi! My name is Shai and this is what I truly believe.
I have been a private tutor for the last 11 years specializing in Mathematics, all Sciences, English, Engineering and entrance exams for 8–18-year-old mentees.
I was born and raised in London UK and have recently moved to Perth, and whilst I am continuing online lessons with my mentees in the UK, I am keen to start empowering the next generation of talent in Australia!
I have familiarized myself with the Australian school system and its very similar to the UK (if not a little less complex when it comes to the syllabus) and therefore, I am confident of success!
Please do look at my reviews from current & previous mentees, which can be found on First Tutors UK under my name.
So what are you waiting for…
Why I do this:
• I believe that education and knowledge equals power and choice. This is why I continue to study myself!
• Passion and motivation are crucial, and I will help mentees discover their passion and the importance of education. I also enjoy helping with advice on careers, mentoring and growth
• I thoroughly enjoy teaching using first principles to embed learnings and applied knowledge, both through private tutoring and my other involvements (see next section)
• I was in the top 10% of all Mechanical Engineers in Sheffield, and I can help pass this mentality and motivation down to my mentees
For the parents:
• Detailed feedback is always provided to parents, with progress charts/reports for mentees to continue their structured development
• Parents can speak to me any time on any day, for specific needs, concerns and updates
My hobbies:
• I love family time
• I enjoy reading and learning about new technologies and advancements in our world
• I love cycling, tennis and football (being from the UK!)
• Gym, fitness and conditioning is a big part of my life and routine – as looking after my body allows me to look after my loved ones and others!

• I am a Chartered Professional Engineer with the following: IMechE UK, Engineers Europe, International Engineers, Asia-Pacific Corporation, National Engineering Register, Engineers Australia and the states of QLD, ACT, VIC and WA
My Past Mentee Achievements:
• All past mentees in the UK sitting GCSE (i.e. High School) exams scored Levels 8-9 (i.e. the highest is Level (9), despite the introduction of new more difficult exams and limited access to past papers
• All A level mentees (i.e. college or pre-University) mentees scored A or A* between 2018 – 2023
• These mentees have gone on to succeed at their chosen Universities and degrees, and I regularly keep in touch to mentor them through the early stages of their careers
Tutoring Approach:
My unique approach:
• I see this as a mutual relationship, and refer to students as mentees
• All of us are different – therefore I always tailor my approach depending on each mentee’s abilities. I have fun and direct methods that mentees enjoy and are guaranteed to bring success
• The new format exams can be daunting for mentees – I am trained in handling these transitions and have adapted my teaching style to suit – mentees will quickly become confident with the new format
• I specialize in helping with exam technique, time management and confidence – all are crucial for success in exams and the real world
• I provide mentees the understanding of the subject with real-world examples, to help cement the knowledge into their minds
• Provide resources for teaching and adapt to using to the explicit material provided by schools. I also provide regular homework and grade all work, including explained solutions
• I have been there and done it before. All my recent experiences and learning’s help me relate more closely to mentees and put them on the right path
• I will not give up on anyone, no matter how hard the challenge!
