Information about Sarah - Surry Hills tutor

Personal Description:

Teaching has always been incredibly rewarding, particularly when students hit the "light-bulb" moment.

In 2014, completed my A Levels qualifications under the Cambridge International Examinations Board in New Zealand where I received 98+ ATAR equivalent (exact unknown). I received a mark of 99% for my IGCSE mathematics (equivalent of Year 11) whilst sitting the exams a year early.

I have a Bachelor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with Honours (First Class) from The University of Sydney and am the recipient of multiple Deans Awards. My final year honours thesis was in cancer research where I was invited to travel overseas to present my thesis, receiving international recognition and awards.

Currently, I am working as a technology consultant but during my degree, I have dabbled in multiple areas both within and outside of engineering. These include strategy consulting, fire engineering and environmental engineering.

Tuition Experience:

As a former Senior Prefect of my high school, I held the position of Head of Tutoring. I have tutored middle school maths and science since Year 11 in school.

Within university, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years within chemical engineering where my students achieved a Distinction average; a tremendous achievement!

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy to teaching is based off simplifying complex problems by drawing analogies and real life examples to create easy-to-understand, vivid illustrations. Additionally, every student has different requirements so I'm dedicated to make sure each student's lesson plan is tailored to them.

I'm passionate about helping students find their right alignment and work to their strengths. I am more than happy to provide consultations to students who are interested about getting into a STEM degree as well as future non-STEM related career options. I am also available for resume reviews and job interview walk-throughs (including both behavioural interviews as well as case interviews for strategy consulting).

At the end of the day, I want a student to take pride in their work and progress they've achieved. This is only possible by an instrinsic motivation to improve and desire to learn.
