Information about Samantha - Ivanhoe tutor

Personal Description:

Hi there! My name is Samantha and I graduated from The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School in 2019 with an ATAR of 99.60, 49 in English Language and 46 in Maths Methods!

I am currently offering VCE 3/4 tutoring in English Language, Methods. My hourly rates are:
- Individual - $60
- Group (2+) - $40 per person

Furthermore, as a current medical student (MD) studying at Monash University, I'd be happy to provide any general advice on entry into med, UCAT and preparing for the interview to all my students who are interested in pursuing this degree!

Tuition Experience:

Over the past 3 years, I have had the great pleasure of working with a diverse group of students that have allowed me to further develop and hone my tutoring skills to be able to help YOU! Here is just some of my experience:
- 1200+ hours of tutoring experience
- Privately tutored 40+ students across Year 8 - 12 from a range of schools (Mac.Rob, Ivanhoe Grammar, Balwyn, MLC and more)
- Experienced and proficient in conducting individual and small group tutoring as well as lecture-style content in large group settings
- Volunteer tutor at RESN and lecturer at accessED - two educational non-profit organisations

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly enjoyed learning these subjects as a student and as your tutor, I hope to be able to transfer these understandings to you to help you achieve your academic goals! Although these subjects can be quite content-heavy at times, I believe adopting the right learning styles and study techniques are key to achieving highly in them - skills that I aim to provide as we cover the content for the year.

As someone who did not undertake tutoring for Psychology and Methods during my studies, I champion understanding and breaking down content into digestible and applicable concepts over the volume of practice. Especially considering my SS is not by definition a high score for Methods, it is exactly this reason that has pushed me to work even harder as a tutor to dive deeper into each concept to translate understandings to my students that go beyond the SACs and exams! This is something I hope to share with you throughout the year!

For Eng Lang, I'm aware that sometimes you might just want someone to look over an essay or an AC over structured tutoring. I'd be more than happy to assist in this area with a small commission! (Please get in touch if this is the case!)

On a more general basis, you can expect to receive:
- Structured lessons tailored to your needs
- Targeted and concise slides with notes and practice questions
- Practice papers leading up to the final exam
- Available anytime outside of lessons for any further questions (doesn't have to be content-related!)

VCE is a journey for every student and I would be delighted to be a part of yours.
