Personal Description:
I am a 27 year old current NSW accredited High School Teacher, and the operator of MindMaster Education. MindMaster is a mobile tutoring service operating throughout the Illawarra. We have three tutors providing professional and personalised tuition from Primary to Year 12. We empower students to enhance their education, fulfill academic potential and master their mind.
Tuition Experience:
I achieved a Year 12 ATAR of 95.55. I have completed two bachelor degrees at the University of Wollongong being; Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (Deans Scholar) and a Bachelor of Commerce. I am now currently completing a Post Graduate Certificate of Psychology with the ambitions of becoming a registered School Psychologist.
I am a current high school teacher with 4 years of teaching experience, and 3 years private tutoring experience. I have taught across all KLAs, and have vast experience teaching a diverse range of students, including high achievers, students with learning difficulties, behavioral difficulties, and special educational needs. I have also taught in a variety of settings, including public, private, independent and specialised schools.
Tutoring Approach:
My tuition approach is based on three major pillars.
1. Individuality/flexibility: Throughout my extensive teaching experience, I believe that no two learners are the same, therefore tutoring should be an individualised process. I utilise a wide range of teaching approaches, strategies and resources to accommodate for every learner.
2. Empowerment: I use a scaffolding approach to ensure that all students are learning in the zone of proximal development. This involves providing guidance to students, so they can work through a task that is slightly above their aptitude, hence empowering them to develop deeper knowledge and understanding.
3. Results-driven: Students and parents engage with tutoring in order to improve their educational outcome. Therefore, I focus on skills that will improve their overall results. This may include targeting difficult content areas or weaknesses, filling learning gaps, exam techniques and school success strategies.
