Personal Description:
I am Mathematics and Physics teacher and a tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience. I have a Bachelor of Science ( Mathematics major) , Post Graduate Diploma in Maths and Masters of Science ( Mathematics) with comprehensive subject knowledge and teaching skills in the area of Mathematics.
Currently I work as a Mathematics tutor/ marker at University of South Queendland and University of Central Queensland for Mathematics undergradutes on top of my Maths tutoing job.
Tuition Experience:
My expertise are in IB Maths, General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Calculus and also Advanced Calculus. I have tutored a range of mathematics to university students for the last 8 years. I have had helped hundreds of high school students achieve results well beyond their expectations.
I believe that my success lie in making maths easy to understand. My focuses is on developing students thinking and problem solving skills. Difficult concepts will be explained in simple and easy way to understand terms . Also, common student misunderstandings and errors are addressed.
I always use simple but effective interactive ways to teach and my teaching metodologies are tailed to individual student requirements.
Tutoring Approach:
I teach lessons that are tailor made to the student need. I do not just teach Mathematics but I tailor made my lessons for the development of mathematical thinking . In this way students can answer any questions in the given range. (encourage to think out of the box )
Exam rubric (what the exam markers want to see and how they want to see it) will feature heavily and weaknesses will be consolidated over time. Because I have been an examiner for certain mathematics exams , I know how the papers are marked, and how best to structure answers .
As I have had lots of experience teaching, I aim to help students over the long term by discussing revision strategies and memory aids to ensure that topics covered in sessions will remain fresh and exam ready.
Effective Questioning is another effective method I use. Also I do online tutoring and one of the key benefits of Online Teaching is having the opportunity to assess a students’ knowledge in a relaxed, calm and non judgmental environment, and remedy where appropriate.
I aim to do much more than just increase grades however. I aim to inspire, increase confidence and show that Maths is something that everyone can do.

From Lucy (/5): Jenny is tutoring my daughter for Level 2 NCEA Pre Calculus. We decided to get my daughter extra help for one hour a week for the duration of the school year. This is to ensure she stays on track and has a thorough understanding as she progresses through the course. At this stage my daughter has had two sessions with Jenny.
So far Jenny has gone through some questions from last year's NCEA Level 1 Algebra external exam. This is helping Jenny identify any gaps in my daughter's understanding before progressing. They touched on some NCEA Level 2 material toward the end of the second session. My daughter says Jenny has already helped her understand areas she was struggling with. She finds Jenny's teaching method to be clear and concise. Plenty of problem solving is very beneficial. My daughter enjoys Jenny's interactive, easy going nature.
