Personal Description:

I am a qualified science teacher (UK QTS/PGCE), PhD, and a professional tutor. I specialise in teaching Year 11 and 12 Chemistry and Biology and preparing students for Year 12 external chemistry and biology assignments and external exams. Also:

* Increasing enjoyment and grade success in Years 11 and 12
* Building knowledge, critical reasoning, and application skills in senior biology and chemistry
* Improving scientific report writing, project work, and study techniques
* Supporting undergraduate science and medical students to improve their science knowledge and literacy

I have been self employed as a specialist online and F2F tutor since 2016 and I love the freedom that tuition gives me to offer students that bit of extra, individual, and tailored help that is often needed to succeed in senior science. I have helped students achieve the high grades required for university entrance and many have gone on to veterinary school, medical school, and top universities here and overseas. I look forward to making a difference in the future by supporting many more students enjoy and build confidence in science subjects and achieve exam and university success.

Tuition Experience:

I am experienced in tutoring the Queensland (QCE), VCE, and New South Wales HSC (Stage 6) senior specifications and International Baccalaureate (IB) SL and AL Chemistry. I have taught and tutored at junior and senior secondary levels across several UK exam boards including AQA, OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations), CIE (University of Cambridge), and Edexcel specifications.

I also regularly tutor undergraduate students studying medicine and related courses. I bring to my sessions a strong understanding of what universities and employers look for in their students and employees, including the knowledge, behaviours, and tools young people really need to succeed.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer both online and face to face tuition tailored to each student's specific needs. My teaching is founded on detailed knowledge of each student's specification and scheme of work at school or university. I use exam papers and up to date teaching materials to build required knowledge, and work hard with students to develop the skills they need to tackle assessed assignments and exams with confidence and success.

I aim to support each student to develop the mastery of science subjects needed to achieve higher grades, but also to build the abilities they need to explore and resolve unfamiliar problems in science and so to enjoy science more. As their tutor I will help them work their way through the challenges posed by final year assignments and coach them to succeed in external exams.

Sessions aim to increase knowledge and ability in topics and may track class teaching or focus on specific topics within a course. Intensive tuition can be offered for students pursuing high grades. This includes increasing depth of knowledge and critical reasoning, support with assessed assignments, exam coaching, and study/learning techniques.

My fee is $85/hour which may be reduced for longer sessions and/or where the tuition arrangement is long-term.
