Information about Eleanor - Rozelle tutor

Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Eleanor! I'm an easy going young professional currently working as an Investment Associate in the Sydney CBD. Since completing my Bachelor's Degree in International and Global Studies, I have also worked at a non-profit and a bank, and have enjoyed travelling and volunteering. I am really passionate about the French language and culture, having lived in France for a year working as an Au Pair and lived in Geneva, Switzerland for 8 months on exchange with Uni. I really miss my time practising and teaching French and foundational study habits so am hoping to get back in to tutoring to help ignite some talent within others!

Tuition Experience:

I have tutored three Year 11/12 students for the two years leading up to their HSC exams of whom all achieved results from Band 5-6, more importantly they noted a genuine interest and passion for the language and felt confident in tackling their Trials and HSC exams (particularly rewarding as 2 had severe anxiety and struggled initially).

I have also worked as a nanny both in Australia and France where I did English and French lessons for children from ages 5-13. This experience showed me the power of visual, music and game based learning. Young children have an incredible ability to learn and thrive when encouraged in the right environment.

I have also helped an adult friend to develop their French learning skills for an upcoming trip to France,who has thoroughly enjoyed the conversational and casual learning environment to challenge herself to learn something new. She has enjoyed conversing in a language she never thought she would grasp and is looking forward to trying out what she has learnt across France!

Tutoring Approach:

Above all for me, it is so important to use teaching techniques that suit and complement the individual's way of learning. Particularly from having worked with children of all abilities, I have built an understanding on how to tailor lessons, whether that is being more visual, more sound or melodic based recognition or focusing on repetition. I appreciate that we all learn differently and my tuition approach reflects that.

Primarily, I use a structured learning plan that I work with my students to plan up front. This adds clarity for what will be achieved and ensures there is a platform of clear communication and expectations that I strive to meet (and exceed where possible!). I similarly expect the same respect and drive from my students to do their best in my lessons. If the tutoring is for a specific exam or school course, I will address this (as I have for previous students leading up to their HSC exams).

I like to make my lessons fun and incorporate a wide range of different mediums and recommended supplementary watching/listening/reading lists.
