Information about Andy - Maroubra tutor

Personal Description:

I'm a recent high school graduate who has achieved great success in the HSC. I achieved Band 6/E4 results in all of my subjects, and Ranked 1 internally in Physics and Chinese, and ranked 2 in Maths Extension 1. This is not to say I only just study and can't engage with others; I am an experienced Public Speaker and debater, having achieved a Diploma in Communications, and have been selected for the GPS Combined Representative Debating team (Undefeated).

Tuition Experience:

Much of my working experience involves teaching or mentoring of some kind, and has allowed me to be able to engage students and tailor content to them. Whether it is as a UN Youth Facilitator, Private tutor (Piano and HSC subjects), Webinar Presenter for Knovva Academy, or Mentor/Production Assistant for the School Musical, I deal with children/teenagers frequently.

Tutoring Approach:

Having come from a background where ro**Contact Detail Removed**arning was emphasised, and the preferred method of learning, I realised after my first few years in high school that ro**Contact Detail Removed**arning isn't as effective as other methods such as understanding how each concept can connect to questions, and then surmising a method to tackle all questions of the same genre, without needing to examine hundreds of questions. I hope to promote this type of learning, and to this extent I have about ~5k Physics and Maths questions (Trials, Past HSC, and other sources) arranged by concepts and sub-concepts, so students can practice more questions specifically targeted to their weaknesses. Similarly, memorising essays in English isn't the most effective way to achieve high marks but rather understanding the key thematic ideas as well as the text itself, which allows one to write high quality analysis adapted to every question.
