Information About Ursula - Athboy tutor

Personal Description:

I work as an adult education teacher of Irish and have 12 years experience teaching the language. I have extensive experience in teaching using TEG (European Certificate Framework). I have done all of my education through the medium of Irish - B.A… M.A. and a Ph.D. - and live beside the Meath Gaeltacht.

I am passionate about Irish and love teaching. I am raising my daughter with Irish and the language is very much part of our daily lives. We are active members of the Gaeltacht community in Co. Meath.

I have excellent interpersonal skills and my students are always made to feel at ease during lessons.

Tutoring Experience:

- Two years teaching grinds when I was a university student at Trinity College
- Four years teaching at Irish language Summer Colleges.
- 1.5 years teaching Irish at secondary level
- Eight years teaching Irish at adult education level

Approach to Grinds:

I use a mixed approach while teaching that uses both an informal and formal approach. The syllabus I use is a formal one and I agree a lesson plan for completion with the student at the beginning of our lessons.

I keep the atmosphere during lessons informal and easy going. Students do not learn well under pressure and I always try to engage students at whatever level they are at and agree on learning objectives.

I have a friendly personality and enjoy the craic which encourages my students to come out of their shell and participate in learning.
