Personal Description:

Hey, I'm Reny. I've been leaving in Cork for a couple of years. I love both learning and teaching, and observing people making progress in any subject or skills. I like cats and dogs, nature, psychology, logical games and I'm addicted to ice-cream.

Tutoring Experience:

I started helping my peers with studying in primary school :) and through the time of my education. I spent over 11 years participating in educational programs as a volunteer. I was a tutor for a few kids of my friends helping them to improve grades significantly in short time. I have an experience working with children having learning/cognitive difficulties.

Approach to Grinds:

My main goal is to teach underlying rules (especially in scientific subjects) so my students can think comprehensively and independently. I am focused not only on curriculum/tests/grades but also on studying skills.

My session lasts 75 minutes. The first 5 minutes is "a brain warm up" where we practice skills like ability to focus, paying attention to details, remembering and so on. It might be a cognitive game or something similar. For instance, with a child from primary school it might be "find difference on two pictures" game.

Then I do 3 micro-sessions (each lasting 20 minutes) and minutes breaks in between. That allows the brain proceed new information more efficiently and is not as overwhelming for students as sitting focused for the entire hour.
