Personal Description:

I have a diverse background, with Swiss/French and American origins, and I am bilingual in French and English. My academic journey led me to study social work in college, and I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education. Currently, I reside in the picturesque West of Ireland, where I pursue my passion for genealogy part-time. In addition, I operate as an online tutor, specializing in both French and English language instruction.

Tutoring Experience:

For the past two decades, I have been dedicated to tutoring both French and English, catering to students of varying ages, backgrounds, and origins. My students have included children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even senior individuals aged 85 and beyond.

Why do I teach both languages? Well, I am bilingual, hailing from American and Swiss/French heritage, and I currently call Ireland home. This unique combination enriches my teaching, as I possess a deep understanding of both cultures, allowing me to adapt my classes to meet the specific language needs of my students.

During my academic journey, while pursuing social work studies in French-speaking Switzerland, I began offering private French and English lessons as a means to supplement my income. To my delight, I discovered a genuine passion for teaching. Even after completing my studies and transitioning to full-time work, I continued to offer these lessons. The joy of meeting new people and assisting them in achieving their language goals was too compelling for me to let go.

Approach to Grinds:

ONLINE TUTORING AVAILABLE!

My teaching is always interactive in order to hold my students’ attention during the whole length of the classes, using numerous learning tools (photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, etc.) Naturally, I will focus on the priority of each student. Some students will want to improve their pronunciation, grammatical, and vocabulary skills, others will need to prepare a presentation or a speech at school/work, while others just want to learn a new language to enrich their general knowledge. And sometimes too, parents want their younger children to master a new language. Thanks to my education and experience with children, I’m also able to run a class dedicated to them!

What you will gain from my course is not only good pronunciation and vocabulary/grammar improvement but also a deeper knowledge and understanding of the culture that surrounds one language! When you speak a language it’s important to appreciate the lifestyle, traditions, and heritage of the nation(s) speaking it. Both French and English are spoken in many countries around the world, as primary languages, and with so many different accents: the learning process is unlimited!
