Information About Paulina - Bray tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Paulina. I have plenty of years experience in providing grinds from Primary School level to Senior level in a mixed variety of delivery and class numbers. I have experience in doing one to one lessons and also groups classes. I was a mathematics tutor for Breakthrought Maths during the last two years of college and now work as a Trainee Actuary in Dublin. I wouldn’t have a problem in travelling to the lesson if the extra expense is covered. Last year I was on Beat102103 talking about what causes maths anxiety and why students tend to get discouraged when they get something wrong. Tutoring Experience:

I have been providing grinds during my time in college. The last two years of college I was employed by Breakthrough Maths to provide maths grinds on an online basis to classes ranging from 5-10 students.

Approach to Grinds:

I believe that maths can be made fun. A lot of students get very discouraged by maths when they get an answer wrong or maybe don’t entirely understand the method. Maths is all about trial and error. You try a problem and it does not matter if you got it wrong, all we do is try it again and understand the method and why we do the certain calculation instead of rote learning. I love getting students to actually be confident in their understanding of maths and I always see them shy away from even trying due to them thinking they’ll get it wrong instantly. I usually like to know what topic my student wants to focus on for the night as I can prepare a tailored approach to the student for the lesson.
