Personal Description:

I have received both a 2:1 Bachelor's Degree and 2:1 Masters Degree in History from NUI Galway.

I am passionate about History and Education, and have a great enthusiasm for tutoring. I am reliable, concise and easy to get along with.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored various young students for Leaving Cert (some have continued with History at Third Level) and University exams/projects. Completing assignments and presentations at University have allowed me to develop the skills required to clearly and concisely present topics and materials in an easily understood fashion.

Please note that I am not a Secondary School teacher, my sessions are to bolster your learning in the classroom. If you require full time sessions, my services will not suffice.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach is simple: it is important that the students think about the topic under discussion. This means that I will be getting you to speak about the subject at hand, as opposed to me just giving the answer. The more you speak about something, the more you remember!

In addition, I will give tips on essay writing - introductions, conclusions, how to avoid waffling, etc. I will also advise on an effective notes system based on the individual.

I like to decide on a topic a couple of days in advance so I can do extra prep for our session.

At University level, I covered a wide range of historical periods ranging from the Late Middle Ages up to the late 20th Century, touching not only on Europe but also the wider world.
