Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Niamh and I'm from Roscommon but live and work in Dublin. I am an experienced Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Science teacher.

I have a first class honors degree in Biology and Chemistry Education from the University of Limerick.

I achieved 601 points in the Leaving Cert.

I have received a scholarship from Johnson and Johnson for women in STEM2D.

I received a scholarship from UL on the basis of my leaving cert results, granted to the top 30 first year students.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 3 years of full-time teaching experience at both Junior and Senior Cycle.

I have 7 years experience in tutoring students and I have received an award from UL's faculty of Science and Engineering for participating in their tutoring programme, volunteering giving grinds on a weekly basis to students from DEIS schools.

I have worked with many students over the years one on one, in groups, I have worked with voluntary schools providing extra tuition to their exam classes and I have also been employed as a tutor by grinds schools.

Approach to Grinds:

I know from my own experience with state exams how daunting and overwhelming they can be. My aim when giving grinds is to help the student understand the theory really well so that they can master exam questions which leaves them in the best position for sitting the exam. We do lots of work on exam questions and looking at marking schemes which is crucial to excelling in the exams.

I want students to feel comfortable asking me any questions and for my grinds to be much more lighthearted and relaxed than a typical classroom setting. I love working with students and we can usually have some fun alongside the work!
