Personal Description:

Dear student,

Would you like to learn Spanish in a fun way, different from the traditional one? If so, welcome! Learning Spanish is Fun with me as your teacher. You will see.

I have my own website where you can find fun activities designed by me. My activities will make your learning easier and enjoyable, because learning is only acquired when we enjoy what we study.

I am a qualified teacher in Spain to teach five secondary education subjects (English, Biology, Geology, Environmental Sciences and Scientific Culture) and a Further Education registered teacher in Ireland. I have been a Spanish language assistant in a Secondary School in Dublin.

I can create activities to match your interests, needs, tastes and how you learn. I can design activities for adults and teenagers, especially for those who want to get a good mark in the Leaving Cert (LC). Books used to prepare students for the LC Spanish exams are very boring and based on an old-fashioned method, which has it focus just on grammar, long vocabulary lists to be memorized and translation from one language into another. There are many studies that prove that this method is not effective.

Grammar and vocabulary are used in context in my activities, thus making easier and more effective your learning. The activities of my website are based on the task-based approach and action-oriented approach so that you can do things with the language as if you were in real-life situations.

I have two Bachelor’s Degrees, one in English Studies, and four Master’s Degrees, among them, one in Post-Primary Teacher Training and one in Spanish as a Foreign Language (graduated with Honours).

Lessons are only offered online because of Covid.

Tutoring Experience:

I was a Spanish language assistant at Castleknock Community College (Dublin) as part of the Spanish Language Assistant Scheme offered by the Spanish Education Ministry to expand Spanish around the world. My work there has enabled me to know the Irish Education System, which guarantees that I can cope with the needs of the students who want to learn Spanish and get a high grade in the Junior and Leaving Certificate.

Education volunteering work for 6 years teaching Spanish, English and Maths to teenagers.

I know the oral questions and all the role plays for the LC 2021-2022.

I teach Spanish following the action oriented and the Task-based approaches, which means that lessons are not focused on grammar or vocabulary but on tasks that you can do in Spanish, i.e. talking about yourself in an interview, describing your neighbourhood, talking about your future, how to buy clothes in a shops…
