I am a final year student in UCD, studying linguistics and history. My goal is to become a translator which is why I enjoy teaching grinds, as it is experience that will help me in my future career. I received an H1 in higher level Spanish for the Leaving Cert, as well as receiving the highest grade for Spanish in the country in 2018. I have also completed a level 5 module in Spanish at UCD, for which I received an A+. I am fully bilingual; English is my first language, but I grew up speaking Spanish at home as my parents are from South America.
I have some experience in teaching grinds to Junior Certs and Leaving Certs. I've had 3 students so far, all between 3 to 5 months at a time, depending on their necessity. These have been neighbours and family friends. The number has been low as I've been keeping a part-time job, however, I have left that job to solely focus on teaching grinds.
Approach to Grinds:
My approach to grinds is to create an individual plan for each student, based on where they are and the help that they need. This plan will include looking at past papers, practising oral work, possibly assigning some light homework with the consent of the parent, as well as biweekly or if preferred, monthly meetings with parents in order to discuss how the student is doing. These plans will be discussed in detail with parents and students to ensure satisfaction, and will be updated every other week in order to ensure progress is being made.
