Personal Description:

I used to find history boring and never considered myself a "good" writer. But once I started learning history as a series of fascinating stories I started to love it. And once I started considering practical elements of writing, it all made more sense to me. Writing is not a mystical process for most people. Most of us need to understand the basic task, the purpose, and the audience in order to understand how to more easily approach any writing assignment.

Tutoring Experience:

I have over ten years of experience teaching at the University level, in both history and writing courses. I also have ten years of experience as a writing tutor in a writing centre (at a well-regarded private U.S. university). I am experienced with the Irish system, including Junior and Leaving Cycle expectations as well as university courses and exams.

Approach to Grinds:

If you are looking for me, then that means you are either struggling or you are ambitious and want to excel. Either way, you need someone who can make the subject matter interesting and give you some useful tools. We will discuss your goals in our initial meeting and I will adjust our plan from there. Some people just need to pass their exams while others want an H1. Once I know your goals, then I will adjust my expectations and strategy accordingly. And, I will do my best to make our sessions together as useful as possible!
