Personal Description:
I am a first class honours graduate of a BSc. in Physics with Astronomy from Dublin City University, with an MSc. by research in Biomedical Diagnostics. I am also a fluent Irish speaker and enjoy sharing the language with others.
I have worked in science for the last three years and have a great deal of tutoring and mentoring experience of students of all ages and backgrounds. I am passionate about teaching science, particularly physics, to people taking it as a subject for coursework or just communicating scientific ideas to a lay audience.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored students at primary, secondary school and university level, as well as carrying out training and demonstrations for adults in the form of laboratory demonstrations and training exercises. I am comfortable supporting both children and adults to reach their full potential in their chosen subject and to achieve any specific goals they have in mind.
I have recently helped applicants to prepare for the Hibernia College interview for acceptance to the Primary School Diploma course, with both students succeeding in their respective applications.
I have also worked with older adults on the area of enhancing their IT skills and improving their confidence with the use of computers in general.
Approach to Grinds:
I think it is important to establish what each student wishes to tackle throughout the grinds period and then work out a plan with the student as to how best to achieve this, given each student's pace and approach to learning.
I believe in helping the student to form their own understanding of their given topic rather than ro**Contact Detail Removed**arning, and emphasize the importance of the learning of fundamental topics in building up a stronger overall understanding of a subject. In addition, I believe that a positive and open approach to learning will lead to better outcomes and overall experience for each student.
