Personal Description:

Hi My name is Mary Dawn . I recently just graduated with a bachelors degree in Applied languages and Translation studies in Dublin City University in which I studied Japanese as one of my main languages. My other language was Spanish. Prior to this, I also have been studying Japanese for 2 years for the leaving cert. So altogether I have 5 years of experience studying Japanese. I have also experienced living in Japan for one year which has given me the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture in which I would be able to share to you as your tutor. I believe that the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in the culture and to build further interest to keep your motivation high.

Tutoring Experience:

I have some experience in teaching English to my Japanese peers who are studying English. I also have experience in taking the Japanese Leaving Cert for those who are studying it for the LC. I will be able to help prepare you for the examination.

Approach to Grinds:

The most important thing is for any of my students to be comfortable during a lesson. The first session would mostly be an introduction class. A casual conversation to get to know you and to see where your level is at and for you to also get to know me more as your newly chosen tutor. From there, depending on where you’re level is at we can further discuss how you would like to continue.

It is also important to discuss your goals to keep yourself motivated and to be able to see progress from your own hard work. However, the most important thing is also the work you do outside of our lessons. If you put in the extra work you will definitely make progress and in no time you will be able to acquire a new language skill.
