Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified Maths and Biology teacher based in Wexford, and I am dedicated to helping my students to achieve their very best. I have given grinds for many years, and over this time I have developed systems (detailed below) that I find not only help students to remember the information, but also to fully understand it.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently employed as a full time teacher, and I have been giving Maths and Biology grinds for over 6 years. Over this time I have watched as each of my students confidence in their abilities skyrocketed, and have helped them not only to develop a set of study notes crafted to them, but also a much deeper understanding of their course.

I have a dedicated study room in my house set up for students to use, and keep all of their materials that they don't need for study between our grinds sessions stored safely there. I find in person grinds to be most effective for students learning, but I also facilitate online grinds for those who cannot travel to me.

Approach to Grinds:

For Maths, we begin with basics and demonstrate how much the students already know. I give students notes of my own creation which explain every aspect of their maths course, and link topics to exam questions to demonstrate how we can apply what we learn in the classroom to the exam. I also work with students on answering past exam and mock questions, and teach them how to recognise different topics in an exam situation.

For Biology and Science, I work with students to create notes that will work for them. During each session, I carefully explain our topic, and together we summarise it. We craft study notes that will work for the student (I provide examples of these, but for science subjects I have found that being involved in the creation of their own notes is incredibly beneficial to students). Finally we look at past exam and mock questions, to demonstrate the phrasing of questions and how knowing their study notes would help them to answer any question presented in an exam.
