Information About Laura - Galway tutor

Personal Description:

I am an undergraduate medicine student in my first year in NUI Galway. Having very recently done the Leaving and Junior certificate examinations I feel I have a good grasp of what is required to achieve good grades in these exams. I received 7 higher level A1s in my Leaving Certificate (Maths, Irish, English, French, Biology, Chemistry, Home Economics), as well as achieving 11 As in my Junior Certificate. I have a friendly and approachable personality, and love creative learning methods such as mind maps, mnemonics, etc. I am patient and will take time to explain a concept fully until the student understands. I am also a very sporty person and enjoy running, cycling and playing hockey.

Tutoring Experience:

I have previously given informal grinds to a student in Leaving Certificate Home Economics. I also have experience of youth leadership (summer camps), and have done a weeks work in a primary school. In Secondary school I was a prefect, and subsequently the head girl of the school.

Approach to Grinds:

I would hope to do an introductory session whereby I would meet with the student to discuss their personal needs. From there we would work on specific sections of the course or an overview of the entire course, as required. I would also be willing to prepare and give notes and memory aids to the student. Weekly reviews or quiz's could also be used depending on the subject and students wants.
