Information About Katelyn - Oranmore tutor

Personal Description:

Hi everyone! My name is Katelyn :) I am a 22 year old who recently just graduated from University of Galway with a B.A in Global Languages- Major in Spanish and a minor in German. I lived in Oviedo, Asturias for my erasmus for about 6 months and became immersed in the culture and the Spanish language. I have been studying Spanish since I was in secondary school and during my first year at university, I picked up German for my course. I really enjoy teaching languages as I am constantly thinking of ways to make learning time more fun and effective! At the moment, I am working as an ESL teacher in Atlantic Language teaching English as a foreign language. Therefore, I am also offering grinds/help in English for anyone wanting to improve their language skills.

Travel: I have selected that I am unwilling to travel, however, this can always be discussed.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been giving grinds in Spanish for a minimum of 3 years for the Leaving Certificate and now I am teaching at a language school in Galway. I really enjoy teaching as I love helping people and seeing what I can do to make the process of language learning a little bit easier. I have my B.A in Global Languages, a TEFL and CELTA certificate.

Approach to Grinds:

As a grinds teacher, I always try to guide my students in the right way to success for their language learning journies, however, I also think that it is important for a grinds teacher to give students the tools they are required and need in order to be confident and succeed also themselves and not always relying on a teacher. I believe that it is important for students to have a good relationship with their teachers in order so that they are not hesitant in asking questions. Students should feel as though that they can ask for help if they are not understanding something rather than keeping quiet and worrying quietly alone. I teach using different materials - notes, presentations, past exam papers and other exercises.
