Information About Karen - Dublin tutor

Personal Description:

I started my career as a secondary school teacher of English, Irish and French. After a number of years, I re-trained as a primary school teacher and have 18 years experience of all class levels, including 4 years on the Special Education Team. I attended a Gaelscoil so I have fluent Irish. I have also taught English as a Foreign Language in Spain and to international students in Australia. I have provided grinds and homework tutoring throughout my career to students at primary and secondary level.

Tutoring Experience:

18 years primary teaching experience.
4 years as a teacher for students with additional needs (behavioural and academic)
Droichead mentor for newly qualified teachers - this mentorship programme runs for the first year of the newly qualified teacher's career.
Also qualified as a secondary school teacher and TEFL teacher.
20 + years experience of providing grinds to primary, secondary and adult students.

Approach to Grinds:

When teaching online, I aim to engage the students by creating an enjoyable and challenging learning environment. I focus on praise and encouragement to increase the student's confidence in their ability.

An introductory session, where the student and/or parent outlines particular strengths and areas of concern, is a vital part of my assessment and forms the basis for my teaching approach with each student.

At the end of each term, I am available for a check-in so that parents can monitor their child's progress.
