Information About Jake - Athenry tutor

Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Jake. I am twenty years old. I live in Galway. I am currently studying Computer Science and Information Technologies in the University of Galway (UG) or formerly known as NUIG. I have completed my first year, which I enjoyed immensely. Mathematics was my favourite subject in secondary school, I always enjoyed the problem-solving aspect to it. It was my strongest subject then, where I got a H1 in both my mock exams and my Official Leaving Certificate. I received an overall score of 625 points in my exams, which is the highest result a student can achieve. I also was awarded the University of Galway Excellence Scholarship.
It lead me to pursue mathematics in college through Computer Science.

Tutoring Experience:

I helped my sister through her Junior Certificate Mathematics coursework, where she struggled in particular with algebra. Through that experience, I acquired an essential understanding of the key issues many students have in regards to their understanding of the material presented.
This is not my first and only encounter with helping others through mathematics; I work with my college classmates through the difficult material of our Honours Mathematics lectures. With the aid of teamwork and insightful coordination, we were able to raise the standards of our assignments, which showed itself in our final results.

Approach to Grinds:

I do my grinds online only, for convenience sake for both parties. Students are able to send in questions or topics that they are currently struggling with in the classroom setting. With a shared Google Drive, I can send any notes or worked-out examples to assist in their further studies. With these questions, we will work through them together in the grinds, where the teaching methods can be personalised to each student and their respective topic.
