Personal Description:
I am a graduate from UCD in English and History holding a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1980). I also hold a Masters in Education from UCD. In addition to teaching experience I tutor teachers as part of their teaching practice for their PDE qualification…
Tutoring Experience:
I have experience of thirty years teaching both English and History to senior level. I am very familiar with syllabus in both subject areas. In addition I have acted as a State Examiner for History Leaving Certificate Higher Level. I have also tutored students in their own homes and would be willing to share their comments with you.
Approach to Grinds:
I have a very relaxed approach. My focus is on preparing students for the exam through ensuring they are familiar with the paper. I work on how to approach questions and also time management.
I also use visual to stimulate tuition period and invite comments and feed back.
While I can offer notes, I believe students are better if taught the skills of note taking. It is a skill needed for exams and also future third level education.
Most important, of course, is that students enjoy the tuition session.
I am now giving grinds using ZOOM. This is to facilitate tuitions due to Covid-19

Imelda is an understanding patience and experienced teacher who have passion for what she is doing.
