Personal Description:
My name is Gretta and I am a fully qualified primary school teacher, originally from Kildare but living in Dublin. I am passionate about creating opportunities for students to learn at their own pace in a safe, positive environment. I strive to appeal to the learning styles and interests of each student in order to make learning more enjoyable. I am open to the individual needs of each students and will adapt my teaching to suit these needs.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a Masters in Education from Hibernia College and I have 5 years of experience as a primary school teacher. I have worked in the mainstream classroom and as a learning support teacher. I recently completed a level 5 TEFL course and I am currently teaching English as a foreign language to adults and teenagers. I also have experience teaching children in one to one and group music lessons. I have worked with children with ASD, dyslexia, ADHD, social and emotional difficulties and dyspraxia. I have just returned from working abroad as a primary school teacher in an international primary school in Milan, Italy.
Approach to Grinds:
I think it is essential to work closely with parents (in the case of primary students) in order to understand the goal of the sessions. I like to work closely with parents and students to find the most effective approach to learning for each individual. I create hands on activities to ensure that pupils are engaged throughout the lesson. I use music, art, drama and other art forms to make learning more fun and appealing for students. I look for opportunities to build on a pupil's prior knowledge. I am happy to adapt to suit the need of the individual student. My goal is to create opportunities for each student to succeed and to gain confidence in their abilities.
