Personal Description:

I am a retired teacher of French and History. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching all my life. I am a hard worker and I enjoy helping students to achieve their full potential. I enjoy getting to know the student as they develop the confidence to express themselves in French and I work in a relaxed manner with students so they feel at ease working with me.

Tutoring Experience:

I have thirty years experience of teaching French to Junior, Leaving Cert. Applied and Leaving Cert. students. I am a State Exams Commission Corrector also. I have vast experience of teaching all the language elements of the Leaving Cert. and Junior Cert. Courses, Aural, Oral, Written & Reading Comprehension and I cater for all types of learners whatever your learning style may be. You will be well prepared for all elements of the course.

Approach to Grinds:

I firstly assess a student's level at the initial one hour meeting which is free of charge. This is a combination of previous results, the student's account of the difficulties they are encountering each day in the French classroom and my questioning of what areas have been covered in class. Once I have assessed all the feedback from the student I outline the work that needs to be done over the time remaining before the examination and I prioritise areas which need immediate attention. I assess what type of learner the student is and vary my teaching methods and language learning tools to help the student learn in the way that benefits them the most. I provide notes on all aspects of the French course. I like the student to feel relaxed and at ease during my classes and to realise once the student has the willingness to learn that we can achieve a lot of progress working together.
