Information About Gavin - Kinsealy-Drinan tutor

Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Gavin and I am a secondary school teacher of Music, Irish and English based in North Dublin (D5). I have experience of teaching French to JC Level also. I have been teaching all three subjects for eight years now right up to Senior Cycle Higher Level. I love teaching and have found that I really excel at working with students on a 1-to-1 level. I have excellent notes for each of my subjects that I am willing to share if hired. I also work as a guidance counsellor if students need to support with CAO, subject options, 3rd levels, career choices etc. I am also available to help hopeful future teachers with their PME Irish interviews. Qualified TEFL/ESOL Teacher.

Tutoring Experience:

I have eight years of post-primary teaching experience at both Junior and Senior Cycle in teaching Music, English and Irish at different levels. I have worked as a teacher at various Summer Gaeltacht courses. I am an experienced grinds teacher of 8 years. Experienced examiner with the SEC - Orals and Written papers.

Approach to Grinds:

During my first session with a student, I like to discuss the goals of our time together so that I can understand the aspects of the course that they find challenging. Some students may exclusively want help with Oral skills to maximise their grade in that 40% of the L.C assessment while others may need help with grammar, vocabulary or written skills. Once the goals have been set, we get to work. Comprehensive notes will be given in each session. Students can feel free to give me work they have completed and I will correct it for them.
