Personal Description:

Hi! I am a recent graduate with a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from Dublin University (Trinity College) class of 2021. I received 570 points in my Leaving Certificate (2016) with A1s (H1s) in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
I have a passion for mathematics and see it as a very rewarding subject to teach and to study. I love discussing it and working on problems.

Tutoring Experience:

I have three year of experience tutoring maths via First tutors and have been casually teaching maths to friends and acquaintances for the last 5 years at both Leaving Certificate and university levels.
I also had the opportunity in teaching during a placement program as part of my degree. I taught Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate maths students in O'Connell Secondary School, Dublin three times a week for a number of weeks in 2020.

Approach to Grinds:

I favour a relaxed atmosphere, different to the classroom environment, to encourage the student to feel comfortable working at their own pace. I believe working through problems aloud, asking lots of questions and understanding the nature of problems to be the most effective way of learning and developing an understanding of mathematics.

After each grind, if requested by the student/guardian, I will give a short summary of the session and some feedback on the student's progress

It is important to focus on the student's problem areas, but, taking these into account I believe it is important to emphasise the interconnected nature of mathematics and to use a student's strong areas to help explain concepts in weaker ones.
