Personal Description:

My name is Emran , I am a 4th Year Engineering Student at Trinity College Dublin, currently studying in TU Delft. I have a passion for maths and science and would love to share that with others.

I have worked in research positions in TCD in Dublin and UC3M in Madrid for the last two summers now, centred around AI and autonomous vehicles. I have also been working on a student motorsports team, called Formula Trinity, in Trinity College for the last two and a half years. On this team we design and build a drivable formula style car, eventually racing it at Silverstone F1 in England. I led the AI and software side of the organisation, composed of approximately 30 university-level students.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a lot of teaching experience, both inside and outside of STEM. I have been doing grinds now for three years in a wide range of subjects. My students consistly improve their grades and more than anything I try to make them enjoy the lessons. I also helped tutor students in my secondary school in Drogheda with maths and chemistry.

Outside of the JC and LC, I have been running my own robotics education non-profit called RacingAI for the last 18 months. We have been delivering lectures and workshops to university students around Dublin in Belfast on robotics and AI.

I was a drama teacher in Droichead Youth Theatre when I was in secondary school. This involved teaching drama to children between the age of 10 to 14 years old.

Approach to Grinds:

I think a lot of students focus too much on just telling the examiner or their teacher what they want to hear, rather than taking the time to fundamentally understand the concepts that are being shown. I think understanding these concepts will accelerate everyone's learning and hence produce better test results.
I also like to employ different learning techniques such as spaced repetition and active recall in my teaching schedule. These methods have been proven scientifically to be the most effective method of learning. I use these methods myself in my studies and have seen great results.
