Information About Ellen - Dublin tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Ellen and I completed my Professional Master of Education (PME) specialising in Junior Cycle Science and Leaving Certificate Biology. I also have a BSc Honours Physiology degree from University College Cork. I have extensive knowledge of the Biology course and exam and can help prepare students for the Leaving Cert at both Higher and Ordinary Level and Junior Cycle Science exam. I also sat the Leaving Certificate Biology exam at Higher Level myself so I know how it feels! I am here to make it feel less daunting and to help you succeed!

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching both Junior Cycle Science and Leaving Certificate Biology and have worked in a wide range of schools and have gained extensive knowledge on various teaching methodologies.

I have corrected State Exams at both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate levels, so I am familiar with the marking schemes and what examiners look for in your answers.

Approach to Grinds:

I take a student-focused approach to grinds and focus on the student's needs and areas that they feel need the most attention and improvement. My grinds are very exam-focused and include an overview and breakdown of the topics on the Biology Syllabus. I ensure my students are aware of the layout of the paper and how marks are awarded. To do this I go through the past exams and Pre papers and use the marking schemes to show students what is expected in the exam.

All grinds will be conducted online via Zoom and I provide PDF notes on each topic at Leaving Certificate level.
