Information About Eimear - Dublin tutor

Personal Description:

Dia daoibh, ciao a tutti and hallo zusammen, my name is Eimear and I'm currently offering grinds in Irish, German and Italian. I am a third year Management Science and Information Systems Studies student at Trinity College Dublin with a passion for languages and teaching. I sat all three of these languages at both Junior Certificate and Leaving Certifica**Contact Detail Removed**vel, achieving three Higher Level As in the former and three H1s in the latter, all of which were 95%+. I learnt Italian entirely by myself, with no classes, grinds or input from any teachers. I also was awarded a place on the Scéim Cónaithe in Trinity College Dublin for the academic year 2020/21 for excellence in the Irish language.

I truly love languages and I found learning all three of these to be interesting and enjoyable (far away from the ro**Contact Detail Removed**arning and dusty textbooks of other subjects), which is something I want to pass on to my students!

Having completed the JC and LC exams, I have comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum and requirements in each of these subjects. I have also been to the Gaeltacht, Germany and Italy numerous times and can provide insight both lingustically and culturally. I want to keep things practical and make sure the student feels comfortable using the language through speaking with friends, music, TV shows, books, holidays abroad/in the Gaeltacht and of course in the classroom!

Tutoring Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching both young children and older teenagers in summer camp and youth group settings. I have also volunteered in providing free tutoring in subjects while in college with the Voluntary Tuition Programme and I have tutored my siblings, cousins and family friends informally previously.

I have a comprehensive collection of notes and sample answers on each section of the exam in each language. I am more than happy to offer guidance in any area, whether it be reading, listening, speaking or writing, and I can also recommend additional resources and fun ways of using the language that students may find useful.

Approach to Grinds:

I tailor each session to the student's specific needs and I focus on improving weaknesses and building on strengths in order to achieve the best grade/learning outcome for the tutee. In addition, I ask for feedback at regular intervals to ensure the student gets what they want out of the tuition and that their preferred teaching method is followed as much as possible.

One of my priorities is making sure a friendly, approachable atmosphere is maintained in grinds and that students always feel comfortable asking questions or voicing confusion over something. I will look to build your confidence in speaking, writing and understanding the target language and to help you feel comfortable using it during lessons and in exam situations. When teaching younger students, I often do fun activities and games in the target language to keep them engaged and to make sure they enjoy the lessons while they learn.
