Personal Description:

Bonjour!

I am a secondary school French and music teacher living in South Dublin. At Maynooth University I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in French and music in 2015 before completing my Professional Masters of Education in NUI Galway in 2018. I studied for a year in Sorbonne University in Paris where I studied French and was employed by Disneyland Paris where I had the opportunity to perfect my French and immerse myself into the French culture which I now incorporate into my everyday lessons. Throughout my teaching career as a secondary teacher, I have become a self-directed, enthusiastic educator with a passionate commitment to student development and learning experience. Proficient at tailoring lesson plans to incorporate students’ diverse interests and to capture their attention and imagination. I believe that learning French and music should be fun and involve active learning which get the students thinking for themselves and having fun while learning the language and music.

Tutoring Experience:

I completed my professional masters of education in 2018 and have completed four years of secondary teaching as head of the French department where I have taught the junior cycle, transition year, leaving certificate and the LCA French curriculum. In 2022 and 2023 I was appointed as a French leaving certificate oral examiner. I also have previous experience with teaching music at Junior cycle and senior cycle level and preparing students for state examinations. I have completed grade 7 with the RIAM on classical flute and Grade 8 with RIAM in piano forte. I also obtained a teaching diploma from the Victoria college London in 2011.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach to grinds is to identify the area that the student feels like they are struggling with and support them in achieving their goals. I help them improve their grammar, reading, pronunciation, listening and speaking skills in French. I also prepare students for Junior cycle (written and aural) and leaving cert. (oral, written and aural) exams. In Music, I help prepare students with the practical element of the exam.
