Personal Description:

I'm a professional in the energy industry with a fresh PhD in Physics from Trinity with 3 years of grinds experience.

I got 595 points in my Leaving Certificate, with H1's in Physics/Chemistry/Maths.

My background is in materials science, having studied Nanoscience at Trinity, graduating with a gold medal. Specifically my PhD research focused on batteries fast-charging.

Tutoring Experience:

3 years of experience giving grinds in Physics/Chemistry/Maths. The majority of this period was spent tutoring ~25 Junior and Leaving certificate students, with a handful of students at University, casual and primary school levels.

As part of my PhD I have also demonstrated experiments in university teaching laboratories for 3 years, helping students in understanding both the fundamentals and the mechanics of the experiments.

I have also done ~10 hours of teaching assistance in Physics and Chemistry classes in my old secondary school as part of the Trinity Employability Award, getting some hands on experience within the classroom.

Approach to Grinds:

I look to sit down one-on-one with the student and to work through problems, while explaining the theory. Next to teaching the material, I look to give practical tips and insights about the subjects, as well as the exam.

As a PhD student I have learnt to identify and to focus on the critical parts of a problem and I look to use this knowledge in helping the student getting over a problematic area with the least amount of difficulty.
Additionally, I have a passion for Physics, Chemistry and Maths and I always look to impart some of this affinity to students if they are interested.

Currently I host grinds on Zoom/Meet, using voice-chat and the online blackboard functionality. I also send out the notes / workings to students as PDFs after grinds.
