Personal Description:

Energy engineer working at operational level for utilities company.
First class honours in bachelors and masters of Engineering from UCD.

Friendly and approachable with a hands on approach to tutoring.

Tutoring Experience:

I have over eight years of grinds experience; teaching both male & female students. I have delivered my tailored lessons to students sitting both the Junior and Leaving Certificate. The average grade increase for my students is 36% (over at least three months).

I coach an u16 boys GAA team and have nearly 10 years experience coaching in summer camps and refereeing.

Gave voluntary grinds to students from younger years when in Secondary School (Gonzaga College S.J).

Approach to Grinds:

I feel grinds should address the difficulties a student is having. My grinds will consist of the student and I working through various problems that he/she find challenging. We will work through the issues that the student has as opposed to me just doing problems for the sake of it, that the student may have no difficulties with at all. In this way the student is taking a hands on approach to solving problems he/she actually struggle with and no time is wasted on the topics he/she is strong at.
If the student has problems they need help solving, they should first make an attempt at solving them and if no resolutions can be found, then we will work on them together.

My lessons are based heavily on past paper questions as this familiarises the student with the layout of papers, what questions to expect, and improves exam techniques such as timing and attempt marks.
