Information About David - Leixlip tutor

Personal Description:

I currently teach the Leaving Certificate Chemistry Higher level course and the Junior Cycle Science course. I have been a qualified teacher for 27 years, teaching the Chemistry syllabus since the beginning of my career. As I am a fulltime teacher I am also involved in the Dept of Educations CPD regarding the new course that begins for the incoming 5th Years of 2025-2026.
I have at the same time been teaching the Junior Cycle Science curriculum, and supervising CBA’s to a high standard.

Tutoring Experience:

Current Leaving Certificate Chemistry teacher with 27 years experience helping students achieve the highest grades on the Higher level paper at a rate well above the national average.
My experience at Junior Cycle Science mirrors that of my Chemistry at Senior level. Preparing my students to get Higher Merits and above.

Approach to Grinds:

- My own notes on each topic
- Past paper questions through which both myself and the student work through together
- Past paper questions for the students to use in their revision, that have been selectively organised so that all of the course is covered
- A retrieval practice is used with the students in order to transfer knowledge and concepts from the short term memory to the long term.
