I have been a primary school teacher for 17 years. During this time I have taught all class levels from infants to 6th class. As well as working as a class teacher I have taught as a Learning Support teacher where I worked to support small groups of children with subjects they were struggling with. I have experience teaching children with dyslexia, autism ADD, ADHD.
I have extensive experience in tutoring 4th, 5th and 6th class children in curricular areas they find difficult such as Maths , English and Irish as well as preparing them to them make the transition to secondary school. I have run many after school clubs in my school including a homework club, art club, book club and cooking club where the children practise skills they have learned in school in a fun way.
Approach to Grinds:
As an experienced teacher I understand that every child learns differently and the importance of structuring lessons to suit the learning style of the individual child. I identify areas the child is finding difficult and help them experience success in these areas and as a result increasing the child's self confidence. I am extremely patient and understand that this is very important to children and they children learn best when they are happy.
