Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Ciarán , a 22-year-old final-year Psychology and Spanish student at Maynooth University. My passion for Spanish runs deep, stemming from years of immersion in the language and culture. I've spent three months living in Spain, where I formed meaningful connections with locals—so much so that I now have more Spanish friends than Irish ones!
Not only do I have a strong grasp of Spanish fundamentals, having achieved the highest grade (H1) in my school (St. Fintan's High school in Sutton) in my Leaving Cert in 2021, but I also bring a unique cultural perspective to my teaching. Whether it’s mastering formal grammar or picking up the slang and idioms that make you sound like a true local, I’ve got you covered.
Additionally I have received a 1:1 (the highest grade) on all of my Spanish exams while at Maynooth University
In addition, I have:
A B2 level Spanish certificate, confirming my advanced proficiency.
Experience in language teaching through my work at MLI English School.
A teaching style that's adaptable to your needs—whether you're preparing for exams, traveling, or simply looking to practice conversational Spanish.
I believe learning a language should be practical, tailored to each learner’s goals, and overall, fun!
Tutoring Experience:
English Teacher at MLI English School
Delivered engaging English lessons to international students, adapting teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and proficiency levels. This experience honed my skills in lesson planning, communication, and creating an inclusive learning environment—skills that I now apply to Spanish tutoring. Addition ally, the majority of my students were between 14-19 from Spain, with limited English proficiency, so the majority of my lessons were taught by me in Spanish.
Approach to Grinds:
Approach to Grinds
My approach to Spanish grinds is all about making learning enjoyable, practical, and tailored to your goals. Whether you’re aiming for exam success, improving conversational skills, or preparing for a trip to Spain, I’ll customize each session to meet your needs.
Here’s what you can expect:
Student-Centered Lessons: Every session is tailored to your current level and learning style, ensuring steady progress at a comfortable pace.
Focus on Real-Life Spanish: Along with grammar and vocabulary, I incorporate conversational practice, idioms, and slang to help you sound more like a native speaker.
Interactive and Engaging Activities: We’ll use a mix of exercises, from role-playing real-life scenarios to analyzing Spanish media (songs, TV shows, and articles) to keep learning fresh and interesting.
Exam Preparation Expertise: For students preparing for the Leaving Cert or other exams, I focus on key areas like oral fluency, listening comprehension, and written expression, sharing tips and strategies that helped me achieve a H1 in Spanish.
Cultural Insights: Drawing on my time living in Spain, I incorporate cultural context into lessons, helping you understand not just the language but also the people who speak it.
My ultimate goal is to build your confidence and fluency in Spanish, helping you use the language naturally in any situation.
