Personal Description:
I am a Barrister-at-Law who has obtained a Law and French Degree and a Masters in European Union Law. I have obtained high grades in all my degrees as well as in the entrance examinations to attend King's Inns to become a Barrister. I have experience practising as a lawyer in both Ireland and Belgium. I am also active in academia, conducting legal research, and have several published academic papers.
Tutoring Experience:
I have three years experience giving law grinds. I tutor law students looking to improve their grades and key legal skills, as well as those without a legal background who are doing law courses and want to increase their understanding of the law. I have obtained several degrees and diplomas in the areas of Irish Law, French Law and EU/International Law. I score highly in my own exams and other assignments such as essays, case-notes, presentations and moots/debates.
Approach to Grinds:
My personal approach to tutoring law is to work with the student and find a methodology that allows them to understand legal principles and learn the relevant case law. As well as having my own written notes on many different areas of the law, I assist students in creating their own effective exam notes, and I provide help with both legal research and writing.

From Nora (/5): (University Law) I had struggled particularly with issues related to internalizing the nature and function of the CJEU and the difference between direct/indirect effect. I found the structure of Brendan's tutoring classes a lot clearer as each case was clearly situated in a development timeline. Additionally, there was a good balance between "lecture time" and questions for the student, which allowed for the routine checking over of knowledge procured in the previous class - I think this was essential especially for EU law, where the exams seemed to me to be very heavy on rules and definitions. Lastly, I found Brendan to be patient with errors in basic understanding and never felt like I was being penalized for asking something.

I came away feeling an amazing relief that I had some academic support and somewhere to turn if I needed guidance, motivation and direction.
