I'm secondary school teacher, having trained as a teacher in Scotland. I have been teaching in the Irish school system since 2015.I have a proven track record of helping students improve their confidence and their grades in English and History. I have a passion for teaching, and have worked with class groups as well as students on an individual basis to help them understand and prepare for exams.
I provided private tutoring during my time in university and spent a year teaching in a busy secondary school in Scotland.I am currently employed as a full time teacher of English up to Higher Leaving Certificate, and so have a full understanding of the Irish curriculum and exams.
Approach to Grinds:
I cater to the individual student, working on areas they feel they need the most help with. This could be anything from essay structuring or deepening their knowledge about poets and authors. My approach focuses on exam techniques, and getting the best out of the student in the time they are given in the exam. This means help with covering topics for revision, timing for exams and ensuring a good knowledge of subject topics. In terms of texts, while I can help with texts from most of syllabus, I am covering a combination Macbeth, The Great Gatsby, Children of Men, Brooklyn and Foster by Claire Keegan with my own classes so it would be helpful for both of us if these are some of your texts also. I can help with whichever poets your teacher has covered on the syllabus.
