Personal Description:

Fáilte romhat! I graduated with a First Class Honours in my Level 8 Undergraduate Degree in International Business and Irish and achieved a H2 in the Irish Leaving Certificate exam. I am currently in my second year of the Professional Master of Primary Education where I study Irish.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been successfully tutoring Irish for the past few years with a focus on the Leaving Certificate exam and with the prospect of obtaining the best grade for the student.

I have a great deal of experience teaching. I have tutored Irish at Primary, Junior Certificate and Leaving Certifica**Contact Detail Removed**vels as well as for the TEG exam and for people looking to learn the language. Alongside tutoring, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years. I work as a Summer Camp Leader at a summer camp each summer. As I am currently enrolled on a teaching course, I am observing and practising different methodologies for language learning and I am practising these on my placements and in tutoring sessions.

With regards to my experience with Irish; I have worked as an Intern for the Irish Organisation Conradh na Gaeilge and I attend the Gaeltacht as part of my masters degree to improve my Gaeilge.

Approach to Grinds:

The grinds are student-focused and tailored to suit the needs of the student. In the first grind, I have a small conversation trí Ghaeilge with the student. This is extremely helpful as it allows me to take note of what the student already knows and they will need to know for their exam.

The students are given notes to support their study. The notes supplied are ones which I used for the Leaving Certificate exam. These are emailed to the student to have.

Students will often get some homework and this is corrected and feedback provided in the following grind. The homework is based on work in the grinds and is used as a method of assessment.

As many sentences in Irish begin with a verb, I believe that grammar is very important in Irish language learning. Therefore, I aim to include an element of grammar learning in each grind.

I believe that listening to Irish being spoken on the radio, **Contact Detail Removed**vision or on podcasts is a fundamental part of learning the language. Therefore, I make recommendations for podcasts and radio stations to support the students Irish language learning.
