Hello!

I am an experienced secondary school Music teacher based in Dublin. I live in the Lucan area and work in the Belmayne/ Donaghmede area of North Dublin. I am happy to travel to and tutor in the surrounding areas of either of these locations.

Hello! My name is Andrew and I am an experienced musician and music tutor. I am a BMus Music graduate from Maynooth University and a Professional Master of Education graduate from University of Limerick. I can deliver tuition on all aspects of the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Music curriculums and have extensive experience of teaching both courses in the classroom as well as private tuition. All aspects of the course will be taught as required- listening (set works), composition (harmonic and melodic) and performance (preparation for your practical exam).

Both my degrees were awarded a 1st Class Honours classification. I am a registered teacher with the Teaching Council of Ireland and am currently teaching in the North Dublin area and living in the Lucan area- tuition is offered in both these localities.

I have an experienced background in classical music, Irish traditional music and choral music, and have performed in many ensembles throughout the years.

Further qualifications include RIAM Senior Certificate in Irish Classical Harp.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience of teaching all aspects of the Junior Cycle/ Leaving Certificate courses. This includes both the melody and harmony questions on the Leaving Certificate course as well as both groups of Set Works. This is my third year teaching in the Dublin area. Previously, I spent a number of years teaching the GCSE/ A-Level Music curriculum in a private, international school in Dubai, UAE.

Approach to Grinds:

I prefer to teach in an in-person setting as opposed to online. There are certain aspects of the Leaving Cert music course that are easier to demonstrate and comprehend in person. However, should you need tuition and are not in an ideal location, don't hesitate to contact me to set up a Zoom tuition call with regards to your tuition!

With regards to notes and tuition, this will be specific and tailored to each student. We will take your strengths and weaknesses into consideration and this will be reflected in the notes/ tuition you receive.

My approach to grinds/ tuition will also enable the student to study Music outside of the school setting as a stand alone subject- one-to-one tuition is recommended for this. Similarly, the grinds can also be considered as supplementary tuition to what you are already studying in school.

I am a friendly and down to earth teacher with the mindset that every student can achieve!
