Personal Description:

Hola! My name is Andrea. I am a native Spanish speaker and a very friendly, energetic and professional person. I am originally from the North of Mexico and I've been living in Ireland for the past five years. I work as a Spanish and Maths teacher in secondary school.

Tutoring Experience:

I work as a Spanish teacher in a secondary school in Cork. I have experience teaching Spanish on a one-to-one basis, specially in a conversational environment. I also have experience with primary school students and Leaving Cert preparation. I also taught English to primary school children while volunteering in South America.

Approach to Grinds:

I like to make myself really approachable. I firmly believe that each student has special and unique needs so my approach to grinds varies depending on the person, always keeping in mind that the only way to learn a language is practicing. I like to have a goal for each lesson, so I always have a topic for each lesson.

The lessons are really enjoyable and I’ve already learned so much in a short space of time. The content is perfect for real-life situations and Andrea teaches me the “natural” native way of speaking Spanish (she covers both Latin American and European Spanish which is great). She is really friendly, encouraging and funny - our classes are full of laughter! The lessons are the perfect mix of speaking and learning new vocab and grammar, with a lot of variety in the types of exercises we do.

When we first started our classes, we had them face-to-face. Andrea has a great little classroom at her home with a whiteboard, desk etc. Now because of Covid restrictions we have been doing them over Skype. Andrea puts a lot of time and effort every week into preparing powerpoints to support our online lessons. She is really patient and if I'm struggling with a certain topic, and I feel I need more practice, she will go to the extra effort to create additional worksheets for me to work on during the week.

Andrea is really accommodating with arranging our lessons, if I ever need to change the day or time of our class she is very flexible. I cannot recommend her enough!
