Personal Description:

I am an English teacher situated in south Dublin. After studying English at Trinity College Dublin and the University of St Andrews, I achieved a First Class Honours in the Professional Masters in Education also from Trinity. Upon graduating from my Masters, I was awarded the Crawford Memorial Prize for achieving the best result in my cohort of over 100 post-primary teachers. I am an avid reader and obsessed with all aspects of education and learning.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching English to all year groups at Higher and Ordinary Level, including 6th year HL. I am also a Senior Cycle form tutor. I have taught all aspects of the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate curricula, including Shakespeare, the Comparative, poetry, film studies and composition/essay writing. I have also taught English as a Second Language to teenagers. I have tutored English since I was in secondary school.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach to grinds is exam-focused yet flexible. As an evidence-based teacher, I implement an holistic, learner-centred and inclusive approach to teaching grinds. I use innovative and active methods, tailored to each individual student, in order to reach and empower my students. I recognise the diversity of individual students and that different research-informed teaching approaches must be used in order to teach all students equally and successfully. Revision of key curriculum areas, secrets of exam techniques and focus on excellent exam paper sample answers ensures that my grinds help my students achieve their potential in exams.
