Information About Amanda - Leixlip tutor

Personal Description:

I have a great passion for teaching and love passing on the knowledge and skills as a facilitator as well as learning from the students. I love sport, reading and history.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently a post primary school teacher in English and History. I have a great passion for teaching and love being in the classroom.
I have been teaching in a post primary school in Dublin and have been teaching both higher and ordinary level English to senior and junior cycle students.
I lived in Spain for a year where I taught English in the University of Cantabria for a month and also in an academy where I taught English as foreign language to classes of 8-12 students in a range of ages and one to one classes too.
I also had the opportunity to teach English in a summer camp in Spain fro three summers for about 12 weeks where I gained experience working with a range of abilities, ages and backgrounds.

Approach to Grinds:

I am open to doing as many hours as you feel are needed in a week. The maximum I will do in one evening is one hour as I feel longer than this would be too much for the student to gain anything from it. I can do one on one or have a small group. Sometimes a group works better as students can learn off each other as well as me. This is particularly beneficial in English as the subject is largely based on sharing your opinions and being open to new ideas.
Another huge area in English is essay writing and I have found from students past results that there is a certain structure to each type of essay and going through it step by step with lots of practice helps to gain a higher result.
History is content heavy, there are methods to help any student to better retain the information which I will do lots of work on.
I am free most evenings a week and Saturday mornings.
