Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Alexander and I am a Design Engineer, working in a Data Centre.

Alongside my career, I have worked for several years helping students to grow an unknown love of maths that I too only developed once it clicked. I truly believe that anybody is capable of doing brilliantly in their exams, once they figure out the methods that work best for them.

I have a vehicle and so can travel anywhere in the South Dublin area. There are also residential study spaces in my apartment complex, if finding a quiet hour in a busy household is difficult.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching both Junior and Leaving Certificate Maths to students since my College years. I have worked with children of all ages, so have developed a concrete understanding of methods that work and those that don't.

Approach to Grinds:

Depending on the stage in which the student is in the leaving cycle, I will usually spend the first few hours of our meetings developing an understanding of their level, to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

Whilst one of the main goals is to strengthen those weaknesses, it is important to also ensure that the strengths are both acknowledged and rehearsed. Therefore I like to have the students work on examples they are confident in too, particularly at the beginning of the sessions, as I believe it provides an ideal atmosphere for the remainder of the lesson.

I always encourage two hours lessons as I believe it can take some warming up for the first while, and am happy to provide this at a reduced rate.

I also always encourage that the students practice what we have gone over in the time spent between lessons, as it's important not to view our time as their study for the week. This will come naturally with time and maturity however.
