Bonjour! :)

I'm Aileen - I'm 23 and from **Web Address Removed** Clare. I have recently returned from Lyon, France, where I worked as an English teacher in a primary school and nanny.

I studied Law and French at UCC and just graduated last year. This included a one year Erasmus+ exchange in France.

I have studied French for 10 years now and have achieved working proficiency (C1 level of Common European Framework for Languages).

Passionate about languages, I studied Japanese for Leaving Certificate and am learning Italian on Duolingo - I'd love to offer my services to those finding French difficult in school or university.

Tutoring Experience:

I spent the past 7 months working as an English language teaching assistant in Lyon, France. This role entails the teaching of English as a foreign language to primary level students on a part-time basis. I taught 16 different classes of 20+ children per week.

In addition, I worked part-time as an English babysitter/nanny for two French-Dutch children with Babylangues.

I have done occasional grinds in the past for cousins and family friends.

Approach to Grinds:

French (or any foreign language, for that matter) can sometimes be a tricky subject to study for, when so much of the Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. exams require expansive notes to be learned by heart!

My approach to tutoring students is to firstly identify and target the student's biggest areas of difficulty (grammar, vocabulary learning, approaching long-form written questions). If the student has trouble with certain lessons or parts of the exam, we can create an action plan to better display their knowledge for examinations.

Together we can assess the student's pre-existing knowledge / class notes / handouts and improve upon them in line with the correcting scheme for Junior and Leaving Certificate exams!

I strive to foster an encouraging and communicative environment for students, as grinds offer a special opportunity to ask as many questions as one likes, which is often a welcome change from the overwhelming classroom environment!
